Valérie Goedert
Valérie is my beloved wife. We get to know
each other at the University of Namur. She studied
Economics, with Computer Science at first. She failed her second
candidature and that's were we get to know. She later on succeeded
and got her Master in Economics. She is now working at Fortis,
as Corporate Credit Assistant for large businesses.
The "Blobs"
A group of friends from University, dear to my heart. They
are (in no particular order) : Pascale Dechamps, Valérie
Goedert, Benoit Marchal, Laurence Parmentier, Sébastien
Stormacq, Pascal Platteeuw, Michel Carpentier, Stéphane
Vincent, Valérie Goedert joined by their partners, i.e.
Nathalie Dujardin, Véronique Henrotte and Nancy.
The name "Blobs" comes from a story I
told jokingly to Valérie. Valérie came one day, very afraid of
having computer virus on her PC. I told her to beware of possible
short circuits (named "Blobs") on her CPU because of this virus.
Most of the people mentioned above listened to this b*shit but
none said a word; they just smiled. Well, she believed it... At
the end of the day, when she looked worried about her PC
and was about to go home, I told her about the joke...
and Valérie was quite mad at me... Later on, the group of
friends became the "Blobs" in remeberance of this little
prank.
Benoît Marchal
Benoît Marchal is a dear friend from
University time. Independant at heart, he set up - with his
partner Pascale Dechamps - Pineapplesoft
after a few years
working as an employee. His skills are numerous but are
now more geared towards the use of XML in enterprise
applications. He also is the author of books on XML and a large
number of articles on related subjects.
TCC & Proton Team
While working at FICS Group (acquired by S1 in
1999) (from September 1995 to November 1999) , I had the
nice opportunities to work with bright and friendly people. I
first worked in the Telecommunication Competence Center (TCC),
as software engineer and technical leader, developping
communication modules for PC banking application. Later on, I
joined the Proton Team, working under contract from Banksys on applications
related to the Proton e-purse. Those
were the days, those were the nice people.
TCC : Philippe van de Putte, Albert Smets, Paul
Masquelier, Vincent Reidemester, Philippe Lombaerts, Stephan
Vernieuw, Jean-Luc Sonnet, Alain Caplier
Proton : Alain Gérard, Jean-Francois, Jean-Luc
Sonnet, Bruno Vandezande, Philippe Ripak, Jacques Vinandré,
Georges Marlair, Daniel d'Ambrose, Jean-Louis Sacré, Francois
Boudaillé, Gilles Dubois, Michel Valentin (Banksys), Mireille
Lambinon, Helen Mangelschots, ... and some more whose names
have faded away in my aging memories.
BioTeam
I started working for Keyware in November 1999. I
joined a nice team of people there and get to know more people
from the Ieper team along the years. I worked on a biometric
authentication server and framework, that has been sold to
Identix in October 2002. Some of the team members are Christian Halet, Frederik
Noe, Tim Dobbelaere, Filip Claeys, Joris Van den Broeck and André
Oeyen, our dedicated sales' guy. We can be called
the survivors, overlasting a bunch of colleagues, too numerous to mention
but not forgotten.
In memoriam
Eugène D'Haeyere, dit Géno (1/1/1944 - 17/7/2002)
My dad died on July, 17th 2002 from what people call a
long lasting disease, i.e. a lung cancer, most probably caused
by smoking from the age of 16. I'm missing him all and every
day of my life. He will always be a model to me.
